Key Moments with Kit: Half Price Books

Breaking news from our corner of the doll world: there is this wonderful place called Half Price Books where the shelves are just filled with used books of every size and shape!

MyLittleMegara and Aighmi* have been going there for a long time, apparently, but they've never taken one of us before. Molly, Elizabeth, Nellie, and I have now all gone and we all really enjoyed it.

I was happy to see that they had a copy of my first book ready and waiting for a new little girl.

Molly was completely thrilled to find a first edition of one of her books & wanted to pose with it.

Then Molly spotted the Harry Potter books and couldn't be pulled away.  She did NOT want to hear that we wouldn't be buying any of them, either, as we already have at least one copy of each American edition, a couple of British versions, and the complete set of audiobooks read by Jim Dale.

Meanwhile, Nellie (who refuses to change out of Julie's original meet outfit, which Aighmi* found for her online) found books written in the 1970's.  She felt that this was Karma, a groovy alignment of purpose with her newfound passion for that decade.  Despite what anyone else tries to tell her.  We are a little afraid she may take up smoking...or worse....

Madeleine L'Engle!  Beverly Cleary!  She vanished into a Ramona book for the rest of the time at the store, completely ignoring Molly's crooning over Harry Potter.

Elizabeth, a devoted Alice in Wonderland fan, was happy to find lots of copies of her favorite book.

Once she picked out her favorite copy, she was in her own little world.

I reminded her that she already has a copy, so she reluctantly put it back and informed me that she was going to go home and read the entire book that evening.

I laughed, but wasn't surprised.

When nobody was looking, the Hundred Acre Woods Tsums slipped out of Aighmi*s purse, having seen a book about their friend Christopher Robin.  We didn't even realize it until we saw this.  It took quite a while to convince them to return to the purse!

Signed,
Kit Kittredge

PS: I apologize about the way that this randomly goes back and forth in terms of spacing. Something has changed and Blogger ignored my pleas of staying to the left!
